Introducing our Calming Clinic

Did you know that we offer socialisation visits for worried dogs? We meet many dogs can be very anxious about visiting the vets and this can become a worrying experience for owner and pet alike. To make your pets experience as stress free as possible we offer calming clinics. This is an opportunity for you and your nervous dog to attend the vet clinic for an appointment with one of our experienced nurses. We will make this appointment as calming as possible, encouraging your pet to relax and have treats in one of our consulting rooms.

One recent example of how well these clinics work is the lovely Lucious.

Lucious was seen by one of our vets for a routine vaccination and health check, while he appeared worried he allowed the vet to fully examine him. Unfortunately, he wasn’t so keen on his injection and let us know he had had enough!

We wanted to build back the bond with Lucious so we scheduled him for regular calming clinics. When he arrived he came through to our consulting room where treats were laid out for him to find, this made him feel calm and focused on a positive experience.

He then was fed some treats by nurse Vicky and enjoyed some fuss and cuddles. While he was getting fed treats nurse Vicky showed Lucious the stethoscope and got him used to being handled and fussed by her.

Lucious enjoys toys so he had a few toys that he could choose from to play with and even got to take his favorite one home!

We allow a longer consultation time so he can take as much time as he needs to relax and would also cut the session short if he became overwhelmed.

Lucious has had multiple appointments and now makes himself at home on our chairs!
